My daughter graduated from Coolidge, and I am also a close neighbor to the school. Renovated and rededicated, Coolidge could do just as good as job of educating our kids as the schools west of the park.

All the projections say D.C. will be growing in population and income for the foreseeable future, yet we make decisions without looking down the road. With waiting lists a mile-long for top-performing high schools in D.C., why wouldn't we look to improve our current inventory? I've been a DC resident for 20 years and a ward 4 resident for 8. The changes within that time has been incredible and ward 4 is no exception. Improving Coolidge in all aspects is a must.

Schools are the foundation of the community and build the next generation of our neighborhood. Coolidge should be up to the standard that so many other DCPS schools are already at.

Please renovate Coolidge! I have been in Coolidge and in other DCPS High Schools that have been renovated and the differences are stark. The inside of Coolidge is dark and depressing like a prison. The students deserve better! They deserve an open and bright learning environment that makes them feel valued as current students and the future leaders of our great city.

I am a 1975 graduate of Calvin Coolidge High School and a co-founder of the Calvin Coolidge Alumni Association. It is imperative that the high is fully modernized and remains open to continue to meet the educational needs of youth and serve the families in the Ward 4 community.

I'm an alumni of Calvin Coolidge and this school paved the way for me to further my education. Not only did I excel academically here but athletically as well. Save our school.
