has nothing to do with inviting a soneh yisrael into a jewish institution if these kids want to go see khalidi and self flagellate in front of him, they have every right to do so but he should not be given a forum in a jewish institution

How sad that we cannot even have an open dialogue with others. How much more good can come from seeking out those who are "others" and trying to come to an understanding together. What a sad day for the entire school. I certainly hope that this can get resurrected so that the students can have open exchanges and are not fed so much prejudice. Talking together is far better than fighting one another.

As a parent of Ramaz alumni, I would hope that the school could tolerate different perspectives. Ramaz should be a place where students learn critical thinking, not simply learn by rote what to think.

When I was growing up, Zionists -- and I am one -- were confident in the morality of their positions so they welcomed every opportunity public conversation with their critics.

I commend the open-minded students of Ramaz for inviting Prof. Khalidi to speak, for their willingness to listen to things that may not be easy to hear. All too often, the people who write the checks in our Jewish community seek to exercise their own form of censorship. My advise to the students who started this petition is to open it up to the entire Jewish community to sign, not just Ramaz students.

Professor Rashid Khalidi is a MAJOR scholar. His book THE IRON CAGE, for example, is indispensable for anyone seeking to understand the roots of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Barring him from ANY school program does a tremendous disservice to students.

Students, in order te become independent thinkers, should be exposed to manyfold different opionions. The life and experiance of Professor Rahid Khalidi should not be hidden from students

This is an outrageous attempt at censorship by the Ramaz faculty and administration. If the party line is so fragile as to forbid students from even *hearing* differing opinions, perhaps its ideology should be reviewed.

I support an open-minded, intellectually honest, free flow of exchange and ideas and opinions.

Stimulate the debate, don't suppress it. Bring Khalidi back!
