Because Billy was a man who made things happen that wouldn't have otherwise. Everyone in the Boston 80s music crowd knew that, and everyone who knew him at CSW did too.

Billy was an amazing man who made Central Square a music destination. He was one of those priceless, rare people who come along so seldom, and he is sorely missed.

Billy personified all that was wonderful about Cambridge. From his manner of dress to his love of the obscure, he was the pied piper of all things musical in Cambridge. I will never forget him.

I had only just moved to the city in '97, but was show-going 2-3 nights a week, and quickly came to recognize Billy from most every show.

It would be great to see Billy honored with a square - I think he deserves it! He'd be thrilled if he knew...

The resurrection of Central Square as a entertainment and cultural hub is directly attributed to Billy Ruane. I would prefer Brookline and Mass Ave be named Billy Ruane Square....but support these efforts.

Billy was a driving force for good things to happen in Central Square Cambridge and I could not be more supportive of this idea. I have lived on Green Street for more than 20 years and would be honored to have s square on this street named in Billy's honor.

Absolutely necessary! I wish there could also be some kind of interactive component. Maybe we could put a QR code (do people still use these??) on the back of whatever signage goes up that would link to a recording of folks talking about Billy and his impact/legacy. I would be interested in collaborating on something like this!

Billy was no square, in fact there was no shape that could contain him, but naming this one after him is the right thing to do.
