The status will need to be a whirling dervish of movement with an overgrown lock of hair, an oversized t-shirt, a nice coat, and loafers. Central square isn't the same without Billy.

Billy was a friend, and above all, a friend to the Boston music scene. He deserves to be honored

Billy Ruane made so much music happen it's not possible to calculate the number of people he had a hand (wringing) in bringing together. Seriously, he made Cambridge come alive. Without him so many of us would be missing something from our lives.

Billy Ruane gave me a platform for my musical voice. Helping me and my bands who played experimental music, jazz and rock a launching pad to a successful career. He was always there helping those who were on the fringe and those in the main stream. As long as it was good music, Billy would find a spot for you and/or your band to play at in Cambridge, and often paying out of his own pocket. Billy deserves to be memorialized for all the great music he helped and to be remembered as the philanthropist he was.
