I have been waiting since I was a child for a bike path along the water on this island that we call home. Born and raised here, I've also ridden my horses in the median from one end to the other, it was wonderful. Also always loved the nice drive along the parkway, for me it was never the fast path, but being able to see the water, trees and the lovely homes along the way. Realizing times have changed, it's no longer about motoring by lovely areas, but encouraging more walking, biking, seeing the beauty in nature closer than a car window. So yes, I will miss the use of the parkway a bit, but feel the biking - walking path will be worth it in the grand scheme of things. Here's hoping thoughtful cooperation and good planning will prevail now and for our future, thank you.

I think it's a great idea as long as the maintenance is funded and someone is accountable: no trash, beautiful grounds and well maintained facilities.

This was an idea in my head about 25 years ago. Our waterfront is beautiful but we are so limited as to its use. I wonder who would be responsible for its upkeep though as far as garbage and keeping it mowed? I'm all for it!

I'm not a grand island resident but I want to know why NON grand island residents are signing the petition AGAINST the bike path. Why are West River residents passing around a petition and telling everyone to sign it but then saying if you aren't from GI OR THE WEST RIVER you don't have a say? I'm for the bike path because I'm against xenophobia. I'm against hypocrisy.
