The town board voted on this based on the concerns of the few, not the whole. Those who objected to the bike path loudly and disrespectfully at the meeting held by the state were those who lived across from it. Those in favor were hesitant to build a resistance against those objectors, due to the negative element that was apparent. The viewpoints of the objectors cheated the rest of the island out of access to the waterfront, which is a problem across WNY--the privileged few using waterfront property to meet their personal needs. Gladly, other areas of WNY have come on board with the issue of greenspaces and their value for the whole, and have not caved to the voices of the privileged few. And if the privileged few do want to think about this from a more selfish standpoint, what better a way to increase the property values of their homes that to take out a worthless 55 mph highway and replace it with greenspace? Truly, those residents who objected did not think this through. I was saddened by their selfishness and disheartened by their inability to see how this connects Grand Island with something truly great.
Grand Island has always been a very unwelcoming, stagnating place. Maybe those on Grand Island do not realize this, but that is how the rest of WNY views it--stagnating and unwelcoming. It seems (some of) the residents like it that way--a speed bump on the way to Niagara Falls. New ideas need to be embraced, not shunned based on the viewpoints of the "haves".

I spend a lot if time on Grand Island and think turning West River Pkwy into a clean, safe, maintained bike path for everyone, especially families, will only benefit the Island!

Change is good. This will impact so much to the town and take this place to the next level it needs to go.

I am in favor of the state putting in a bike path - even if it means we have to have the "thruway" taken off of the riverfront. I believe it (parkway) never should have been there, cutting off the riverfront to homeowners and the general public. Build it.

Build the damn path. As I child I rode my bicycle up and down west river to my friends house. Give people an option to really enjoy the west river up close and safely. This will only help and not hurt. It needs to happen
