Safe, Equitable Education in Barrington District 220

The pandemic is not over and 97% of those hospitalized or dying from Covid are unvaccinated. Children should wear masks at school.

With the increasing cases especially amongst the younger population, the variants, and schools being indoors, it would be better to start off slowly and more cautiously to prevent unnecessary illnesses, continued spread, and to have to go remote again! Spoke to several pediatricians and they all agree that at the minimum the non -vaccinated should remain masked.

Masks are necessary. This is proving to be a pandemic of the unvaccinated.

My kids are in bhs and starting Station middle school.

Wearing a mask is NOT a personal insult. It's a proven tool for protection during this fight with an invisible disease.

It's shameful that our school board leaders have to be forced to do what's right

I want kids to stay safe from this deadly disease and not get infections back to their loved ones or communities like ours. I am worried about that. Kids and parents should feel safe to go to school.

With the Delta variant cases surging it is imperative that we stay vigilant in protecting our children from this preventable disease.

Follow the science. Keep our kids safe that can’t be vaccinated. They have a right to safe school.

It’s about safety for all. Nobody likes wearing masks, but we should do it to try to keep everyone safe and healthy.

Please put masks on all the children, that’s the least we can do.

Wear a mask! Get vaccinated! This is your chance to save lives.

Please help keep students from getting sick and from bringing the illness home to extended family members. Unvaccinated people should continue to wear masks.

As a physician and mother I am appalled the district is even considering making masking optional at ANY grade level. The low vaccination rate in those students eligible for vaccination makes the threat of transmission very real for even the vaccinated. We clearly cannot rely on the honor system when even board members and others sit unmasked in an indoor public forum, blatantly disregarding CDC, IDPH and WHO guidelines.

My kids are both vaccinated and they still want to wear a mask to protect others. Too bad the others don’t care to do the same!

Until children under age 12 are eligible to be vaccinated, and until the vaccine is widely available to this age group, masks should be required in order to provide protection from COVID-19.

It’s very concerning so many Barrington families have chosen not to get vaccinated yet will be allowed to come to school unmasked. My 4th grader has no option to be vaccinated yet her health is at even greater risk. I strongly disagree with the decision by the Board this week.

I agree masks are prudent. A logical simple solution for avoiding a vaccine resistant variant.
