Follow the advice of experts: epidemiologists, CDC, IDPH. This is a global pandemic, we're learning and revising guidance as we learn.

Please listen to scientists!

The "science" has nothing to do with this. We moved from the 220 district and was the best thing we have done. The outrageous direction that this district has taken is embarrassing and not at all in the best interest of any of the children.

Mask help protect the children and their teacher. If there are no teachers who will teach? If there are no children to teach where is our future?

Please teach science and FOLLOW the science. Keep our kids safe with masks. They are use to it now.

As you consider the mask policy for the district, I invite you to consider the following: 1.  Unvaccinated Students.  Students in K-6 are not eligible to get a vaccine.  If you make masks optional for unvaccinated students, you must explain what your mitigation strategy would be when an unmasked student comes to school with COVID.  That unmasked student might be coughing and sneezing droplets throughout the ENTIRE room.  While it's true the other students can wear masks, a cloth mask only catches 50%-75% of the droplets.  What's your strategy to keep other kids from getting sick?  The right strategy is for the unvaccinated kids to wear a mask to minimize the droplets in the air and to minimize the spread of the droplets. 2.  Personal Choice.  You can't justify optional masking for unvaccinated kids as a "personal choice."  Students should wear a mask to protect the other students, teachers and staff around them.  Not just to protect themselves.  I don't have the "personal choice" to drive 100mph in a school zone because it risks my life and the lives of the people around me.  Don't pretend masks only protect the wearer.  3.  Liability/Insurance Policy.  As you probably know, Governor Pritzker's office released a statement indicating that schools that ignore the IDPH and ISBE recommendations may open themselves to significant liability.  If you make masks optional for unvaccinated kids, kids are going to get sick and suffer harm.  You may get sued.  Moreover, I wouldn't be surprised if your liability insurance policy has an exclusion for this type of behavior in which you ignore public health guidance from the CDC, IDPH, DPH and ISBE and I'd be surprised if your insurer believes that they should pay for arguably reckless behavior.

Children unable to receive the vaccine should be required to wear masks until such time as the vaccine is approve for the given age. Every student and worker in any school should be required to wear a mask if they are not vaccinated. Vaccination status should be confirmed with the proper authorities.

Please have our PreK-6th graders wear masks as mandatory

Please do not put our pre-k through 6th grade children in harms way by not protecting them until the have an opportunity to be vaccinated.

Given the fact that adequate vaccination rates for school-aged children will not be achieved by the time classes start, universal masking is a scientifically proven effective mitigation strategy to help control the spread of COVID 19 infections amongst students.

Under 12 are not vaccinated!

How is this even an argument??

Masks may be inconvenient but for the unvaccinated, it is one of the few protections available. I have seen enough suffering with covid to confirm that it is real and it is devastating. My kids had no problem wearing masks during the last school year. Please let the science and not political opinions or short term conveniences prevail.

The safety of our kids should be the most important factor.
