Seeking a Safer Off-road Walking and Cycling Route Between Bairnsdale and Paynesville

Please make safe roads for bikes

It's definitely time, especially with the poor state of Paynesville Road.

It would be well utilised and make the roads safer

To many close misses between cars & bikes. Made worse by barricades in places along roads to Bairnsdale.

Years ago the shire looked at a cycle /walking track. This didn’t ever progress probably because of cost . Over the years the Paynesville / Eagle Point population has dramatically increased. The traffic on the Painsville - Bairnsdale Road is very heavy & with the constant subdivision of land for housing will continue to increase. A bike track is VERY important .

Live in eagle point and would love have a safe cycle/walking tank to bdale, one that links the current eagle point to pville track

Whenever friends or family ride between Bairnsdale and Paynesville I fear for their life because it is too dangerous.

The road is far too narrow and people will be killed if it is not made safer. Making a dedicated cycling lane would also be a great economic boost. Think of all the middle aged lycra clad cyclists spending their cash ...

We really do need a considered and safer path, be it improved roadside or totally off road for the increasing number of cyclists and the increasing traffic loads

Connecting our amazing east Gippsland with cycling infrastructure is intuitive and will lead to better health outcomes, increased income from tourism and improved civic pride. A cycle path from Paynesville will connect our lake shore (and Raymond Island) to Bairnsdale and on to Orbost and Lakes Entrance via our existing rail trails. Over time, with cooperation from other public land managers, we could connect the whole Shire and attract cycling tourists from Bright and Mount Beauty to our amazing region.

Creating a shared walking cycling path would be a significant benefit to the community in the area’s of health and the economy particularly for Paynesville businesses
