The school should also make efforts to improve the quality of on-line learning instead of simply reach the "quantity", set clear objectives, agenda and target to be achieved for students. Implement a mechanism to random inspect the "quality" of on-line class and evaluate "effectiveness" of the on-line learning, there are good teachers making efforts but also teachers just going through the motion.

E-learning provided by the school is nowhere near the quality expected from BIS. the curriculum was not designed to be online and so it is very poor in teaching students online(obviously).

I was in the middle of writing a similar letter to BIS. This letter summarizes my thoughts well. It seems the schools don’t appreciate that 20% salary cuts and 30% layoffs are the norm. That is the starting point for our company with further cuts in a few weeks. You have also seen how strict the government is with school closures and how far if ever a vaccine is likely to become widely available. I would expect teachers salaries would also be affected in this crisis and the school likely to be saving money not having children at school. BIS teachers have been doing a great job with e-schooling and lead the schools in professionalism as far as I can see. But it is no substitute for face to face teaching. School fees are by far our largest expense living abroad and we don’t get any help paying them...... Adam Lawton.

I request a 50% discount in fees paid for the 2019/20 academic year to reflect the inferior e-Learning provision of education compared to the education we engaged with BIS to provide for F1 preschool.

You chose to send your children to a 'for profit' school. Find another one if it bothers you so much.

This shows absolutely no understanding for how a school is funded. Do you know what proportion of fees go into the salaries of the teachers who claim to have a lot of respect for? On the low end it is around 45-50% but on the higher end of the spectrum it could be approaching 65-70%. So where do you think the budgetary shortfalls are going to hit the hardest? If you guessed salaries, you win a prize! That prize is lower paid, less-experienced teachers (as new hires), a reduction in staffing with higher class sizes, and a lower extracurricular offering (because there will be fewer staff and less budget to run it). This is not something that is going to get announced to you either. It is going to slowly creep in, first through budget cuts (in the salary slice of that pie), then hiring freezes and followed the departure of good staff who bear the brunt of fee reduction. If you want a good school you need to pay for it. If you want to maintain a high quality teaching staff, you need to pay for it. I can understand some rebate stemming from unused utilities, bus services, food services, etc... but that is far less than 30%. And, in asking for 30% (in addition to a likely drop in enrolment) while it is going to put us in a better position financially, we will simultaneously be knee-capping the school our kids attend for the foreseeable future. In the end, what it really sound like is many of us are also putting our own short term financial gain before the education of our children.

The school should either reduce the fee or extend the school years so that students can receive a full education. Taking profits under such circumstances is very selfish in an education industry. School should be an organisation to educate not make enormous profit. BIS has already earned enough money through increasing the fee every year.

As a parent, I do share the concerns of the school, community and parents about the Covid 19. However BIS owners should think of reducing their profit in this situation for long term sustainable mutual benefits. Regards,

I want to get rid of school vacation and take classes. As such, it is absolutely not desirable for children to go up the grade.
