First, do no harm.

Standing behind every patient's right to be treated with respect and dignity. This officer should be held fully accountable for his actions. My thoughts and prayers go out to Alan Pean's family and friends.

Speedy full recovery & justice.

As a resident of Houston TX and I believe the entire world would like to know why a Patient is admitted into a Hospital for treatment and shot down? Does this mean we are not even safe under the care of Doctors as well as in a Hospital?

Make it stop. It's easier than you think.

No one deserves to be harmed in such manner especially in a hospital. There are other alternatives. This is beyond anything acceptable of a hospital.

This sickens me. I live in Rwanda and I have a very difficult time explaining American police brutality to Rwandan people. The US is the land of freedom and human rights....except for our sisters and brothers of African descent.

We in the Healthcare profession have a heart to HEAL people who are ill, be it physically or mentally. Someone who exhibits "combative" is not deserving to be harmed in away. There was definitely other alternatives and measures that could've been done.

St. Joseph's Hospital must be held accountable. This is beyond anything one can expect from a hospital in the United States.

I've been 40 years in practice and never heard of such a thing. I posted it on my Facebook page with my outrage and was appalled that some medical people thought there was justification for the shooting. My thoughts are better expressed in this petition than I could do by myself

Working with our own security personnel all the time, I've seen how we safely and effectively manage MANY agitated patients - this scenario, with an unarmed patient, seems ludicrous and obviously unacceptable. My thoughts and best wishes are with the Peans, and we can only hope that after this, St. Joseph's Medical Center, and all hospitals, will take a much closer look at their security policies and training to prevent this from ever happening again.

Dear Alan, pull through. The persistence of police violence in reaction to people with behavioral disturbances and young men of color is unconscionable. #endpolicebrutality #blacklivesmatter #whitecoatsforblacklives

My thoughts are with the Pean family in hope for Alan's recovery, rectified injustice, and averted future tragedies of this nature.

My prayer goes out to Alan and his family. I pray that this young man pulls thru this.
