This is a horrifying story. In my 20 years of nursing, I have never even heard of a security officer touching his gun when dealing with a unruly patient. It is not necessary!

There comes a point when you start to think that the police have gone too far. It seems that we are nearing that point.

It is disgraceful how a patient ccan be treated this way. Hospitals have methods to sedate/calm patients that are undergoing anxiety attacks. Well wishes for you sir.

I have picked up several overtime shifts in the ER and have never seen hospital staff or police officers being violent towards a mental health patient or any patients because they were violent towards them. This staff should have been trained to handle these special circumstances. There are other ways that the patient in this case could've been sedated without a weapon being used. This is unacceptable in the health care community. How are patients suppose to trust the people who they are to turn to for help if the result may lead to their shooting?

Advanced practice psychiatry nurse. This is outrageous. I sincerely hope all charges will be dropped and the hospital has a very thorough review of how it handles the mental health of its patients.

Most if not all hospitals have encountered hostile or combative patients how is it they don't have a resolution that would serve patients occordingly...police officers are not even will trained to do Theo own job n conduct the maven within the law why where they called to handle a hospital matter...with a mentally I'll patient. Ok.St..Joseph fix this take your steps to secure your name in the publics eyes.
