The behavior of this hospital staff, including the doctors and nurses, is despicable. No one deserves this kind of treatment, regardless of his behavior!

I don't know the boy, but I know his father Dr. Harold and his uncle Dr. Joseph, and they are awesome HUMAN BEINGS!

There is a lack of justice and even more a lack of compassion. This man was unharmed and seeking help to be shot is a tragedy, moreso by officers!

A weapon is never an option at our field. He was a patient, not a family member witha weapon threatening staff, which would be in my opinion the only reasonable situation that would require any security personnel. We are trained as health care providers to deal with difficult situations, and protocols are in place to deal with these problems encountered at the line of work! The hospital obviously has personnel that are not qualified to provide proper patient care.

The officer fears for his safety not his life, attempts to murder an Un armed man in distress who is under the legal care of a hospital equipped with ethical code to do no harm, calls armed thugs to restrain a man who is in their care. Care? The very idea that a hospital is there to aid in healing... then allows this to happen, proves that we need to look more deeply into the use of force against innocent lives.

I am sadden by this tragedy. This is a family friend. As a registered nurse this form of conduct is deemed unacceptable. I have taken care of numerous combative patients and NEVER resulted into violence. Clarification is needed. My prayers are with him and the family.

As a retired RN and as a health consumer I am appalled at this. The general public needs to be made aware of this so they know to stay clear of this hospital because they obviously have no idea how to treat patients and/ or honor their Hippocratic Oath. Is no one safe?

I have a non profit legal organization that represents cancer patients. Being an advocate for vulnerable ill people this doesn't surprise me, however it is appalling the way the people we should be able to trust treat the ill.

I have a son who suffers from mental health issues, I fought to get him help for decades with disappointing results. I guess I should be grateful he's alive in prison.

The fact the medical "professionals" working that night. Let cops with all the issues and gun violence near this patient is truly a show in the neglet's on the medical professionals side. The fact a cop would pull a gun on patient at a hospital shows there needs to be a law that does not allow cops to moonlight in other professions because they can't even go on patrol without killing someone. Why would a hospital, a save haven for the sick and the mentally ill. Let these animals work in their buildings to "protect" those most in need. The cop that shot this young man needing help should be brought up on Attempted Murder Chargers and fired from his "position"

I have significant medical and mental health issues. On two separate occasions I have had medical personnel inject me with drugs that cause me to have psychotic episodes (despite my records clearly stating those drugs should never be used), and then had "security" people severely beat me trying to control the situation.
Discharging a firearm inside a hospital is utterly inexcusable.
