There are many other means of disposal for treating combative patients, shooting should never be one of them.

This is an outrage! I have worked in direct healthcare for almost 30 yrs, 6 of those years as a mental health tech. A gun has no place on the grounds of any healing facility. This is an egregious act by both the health care organization, and those police officers. It is a new low for health care providers.

Completely unacceptable to provide inadequate care to and commit violence against this patient.

I'm outraged at the standard of care, but not surprised. The governor of Texas recently veteoed a valuable bill that would've given physicians the ability to hold mental health patients for 72 hours for additional assessment. Texas has some of the lowest standards as far as providing health care and educating their citizens on public health issues. Mr. Pean would've gotten much better care had he been in Cuba - and that's a statement of how political the medical health setting has become.

My condolences to another family torn apart by institutionalized racism and all those left to pick up the pieces and continue the struggle for justice and equity. The body keeps count. LS

Gun violence and police misconduct in our country are already out of control. To see them seep into an arena dedicated wholly to care is as disturbing as it is saddening.

There should have other methods used to subdue him. Bullets are not the answer.

We were taught both management of assaultive behavior and professional assault response training. Neither of which predicated the use of a gun

This is so ridiculous, all staff should have training in escalating situations. The drs should have ordered a psychiatric consult based on his sudden change in mental status and info from family. Call risk management

No patient should be treated to hot lead "therapy" in any hospital.
