This is an outrage. While I personally don't work in psych, I know people that do and ALL medical professionals are trained on how to care for these patients as part of our schooling. There is no excuse for this.

The police officer was, obviously, badly in need of training (how to handle crisis situations in the hospital, and mental health). You'd think those topics would be required during police training, but apparently not...very sad.. #improvepolicetraining

I fear for the future of the United States. The acts of violence against the innocent by those who are sworn to protect appear to be on the rise. This needs to stop. It has to stop.

I believe this was utterly wrong what the hospital and medical staff allow to happen to a patient seeking help, I also don't understand why an unarmed man would be shot in his chest with intentions to kill him. The officers should be held accountable for their actions and the hospital and medical staff need to reevaluate their decision to allow such act to happen to a patient seeking help, these horrible tragedies need to end. Stop shooting unarmed men! #blacklivesmatter

As a nursing student and human being, this is horrifying. Under no circumstances should a patient be tasered or shot with a gun. There are other methods to calm and treat a patient who is suffering from mental illness. The hospital staff who allowed this to happen should loose their medical license and the officers should have their badges and guns taken.
