This is an outrage and unbelievable in an era where we are taught to care for patients and given training on descalting combative patients instead violence is committed against someone sick and in need of care. I'm horrified and praying those responsible are brought to justice.

I am disgusted that this could happen in an American hospital. This could be my son, brother, nephew, or friend. What is going on? What is going on?

August 28, 2015 happened to be the 60th anniversary of the murder and torture of 14 year old Emmett Till who was then thrown into the Tallahatchie River in Mississippi.

This tragedy is outrageous. The officers need to be charged as criminals not the man seeking mental health, at a mental hospital. This is the place that is supposed to help this man PROPERLY, not harm him. I pray this young man makes a full recovery. I pray him and his family seek justice till justice is served. I hope he continues to study medicine aND becomes the man he has always wanted to be. My prayers are with this young man and his family.

this is most definitely not one of the methods approved to be used for any patient that presents in any fashion. there are restraints, codes for aggressive patients. shooting someone is never part of the protocol for this. unacceptable.

There has to be a way to care for confused and anxious patients. Ways to calm the situation, not escalating it by using deadly force. Prayers for Alan and his family.

This is outrageous.. When did we stop using non violent take down maneuvers? When did psychiatric patients become gun shot victims IN the hospital? Did they call psychiatric techs first for help? No, shoot and ask questions later...
