Columbus Day is a national holiday that should not exist. Christopher Columbus was a monster and a terrible person. He encouraged rape to his soldiers. Columbus would parade dismembered bodies through villages to encourage people in Hispaniola to not rebel. Christopher Columbus was a very Cruel man. In the tribe he would make villagers find a certain amount of gold. If a villager did not meet the gold expectation he would cut off each arm and leave the villager to die. James W. Loewen said that the explorer traded about 5000 slaves , more than any other individual in history. If America keeps this holiday kids will find out about Columbus and think America glorifies slave traders and rapists
