The Alabama Womens Center For Reproductive Alternatives has been forced out of their current location by new legislation signed into law recently. The Targeted Regulation of Abortion Providers, or TRAP, laws required us to adhere to the regulations that require us to become an ambulatory surgical center. This would mean major renovations to our little building downtown that despite all of our efforts we just couldn't make work. So we started our search, and found a building that was already set up to meet those requirements, which isn't as easy as it seems. But because staying compliant with the law is a priority for us, we are surrendering our license for our Madison Street location and making the changes to our new building so we can get a new license and resume performing reproductive care for the women in our area.
