Let's face it - Arlington needs another pool.
The pool at the Arlington Boys and Girls Club has served many people well for many years and will continue to do so. However, the demand for the pool significantly exceeds its capacity. Anyone else wake up at 5 AM on registration day to get a kid in a swim lesson?
Arlington is currently conducting a study on indoor recreation needs as part of an effort to build a new recreation facility. An aquatics center could be included within this facility. We believe that there is significant interest in a pool in Arlington that would serve people of all ages in the entire community: lessons, competition, recreation, and therapy.
By signing this petition you are demonstrating your support for a pool in Arlington. In particular, we would like the Town of Arlington to include an aquatics faicility in the indoor recreation space study. We will be sharing the number of people who sign this petition with that firm conducting the study to show how much the people in the town of Arlington are interested in a pool.

My son has been engaged in aquatic therapy sessions with a PT weekly for the past four years at the Concord-Carlisle High School/The Beede Center; it would be great to see a resource like this offered in Arlington!
My 10-year-old is an avid, advanced swimmer but the ABGC is often too crowded for her to do laps. Having a community pool would give many budding swimmers in the town and in surrounding towns the opportunity to fulfill their swimming potential.
A pool in Arlington is much needed and would be really a wonderful addition to our community. As things stand now we are going all the way to Burlington on the weekends for lessons for our six-year-old daughter. It would be so much better to stay local and swim among members of our own community.
We've been on a wait list for a Lex pool for three years and it's almost too late for our kids aged 11,9,7. Every kid should be able to learn to swim st a reasonable price in a facility that isn't overwhelmingly overcrowded. At least that's the goal!
I support having this facility so our schools can help us approach having 100% of Arlington residents become swim-safe and drown-proof. I and no doubt other would pay hundreds of dollars per year for a lap swimming membership.
It is important to have a pool for all ages. I would love to have a pool available in Arlington
A swimming pool is an important element in wellness programming for humans of all ages. The Town can afford to sacrifice services in other areas if need be.

I swim at M.I.T., because the ABGC hours for adult swim don't fit my schedule. I'd recommend a separate municipal pool though. Having the pool associated with a school can cause security problems for the school and accessibility problems for patrons.
