Please keep the 92Y Social dances going. Dancers prefer venues with a spacious floor, rather than a cramped restaurant!

Please note, 92nd Street Y that in addition to giving people pleasure and making them healthier, a major study added to the growing evidence that stimulating one's mind by dancing can ward off Alzheimer's disease and other dementia, much as physical exercise can keep the body fit. Dancing also increases cognitive acuity at all ages.
You may have heard about the New England Journal of Medicine report on the effects of recreational activities on mental acuity in aging. Here it is in a nutshell. See http://socialdance.stanford.edu/syllabi/smarter.htm

please keep the social dance venue going. There aren't many places with a big dance floor to dance in. The entrance fee is priced well. Thank you

As a long time swing dancer, I have to say that social partner dancing provides the community with a highly worthy activity, which brings people from all walks of life together in harmony. It also employs bands and DJ's, so they may continue to earn a living by playing music for dancers. Social dancing has changed my LIFE for the better. It provides an expressive and joyful outlet while being social in a respectable manner. I've met hundreds of dancers of all ages and backgrounds, on both coasts, and we all love to dance! Please consider this because we need venues to do our social dancing in., and are grateful for that opportunity which we've had with the 92 St. Y.

Please keep social dancing at the 92Y. It's sociable. And Myrna (swingdanceswing.com) is doing a super job in organizing swing dances there.
