The 92Y is an important venue for social dance especially for Tango. It is a welcoming way to begin and less threatening than going to a dance studio . Many people new to dance begin at the Y - including myself! Please keep this venue for social dancing.

Swing dance has a community that simply can't be replaced by any other kind of dance. Don't get me wrong--I love ballroom and Latin dance too--but swing is the only community where complete beginners can dance alongside professionals, It's an awesome experience to have, and I think you'll be doing yourself a great disservice by losing this diversity from your dance programs!

the Y has traditional been more about people and less about business...and more about filling a need....the social dancing should take priority over Professional as there are MANY options for professionals in the NYC area.
