As a neighbor or the Y, I am disappointed that one of the few dance venues for people of my age struggles. Bring back the dance parties!

So. An empty Buttenweiser Hall is preferable to one filled with social dancers??

Few - or no - other activities have the positive benefits of social dance. It nourishes us socially, physically, mentally, cognitively, all in a safe communal setting. That seems entirely consistent with the 92 St Y's mission and should be supported and promoted.

I've supported coming out to the fabulous dancing at the 92StY with the great dace instructor Myrna. Dancing at the 92 St.Y kept me excited about life and gave me a tremendous amount of confidence In dancing and socializing. So find it in your heart to allow the dancing at the "Y" to continue spearheaded by the passion for dance with Myrna.

The "Hustle" is a classic and exciting couple dance that brings people of all backgrounds together sharing the electricity brought through different techniques and styles. The "Hustle" also creates a atmosphere of peace, love and harmony, not only for the dance but, for all those that share their talent, experience with newcomers. Please, please, please, the "Hustle" should win a presidential award for bring peace, love and style to any dance floor in any state, town or country. Peace.

The social dance scene is in trouble due to the lingering effects of the recession, increased costs AND the loss of numerous dance spaces. Shame on the 92nd Street Y for not continuing to support the social dance community...

Hustle dancing is not a 70's obsession - it's a national treasure! It needs to be preserved as a piece of culture at the 92Y!

Studies show that people who live long, happy lives frequently engage in social dancing. The benefits are manifold. Social dancing can knit together people of all ages, backgrounds, and walks of life into a community. It does so at the 92nd Street Y. Social dancing is good for our physical, mental, and spiritual health. This activity should be increased not decreased.
