SAVE 84 2nd AVENUE’S ARCHITECTURAL INTEGRITY

Linn Loemo 304 East 5th Street, 4C, I ask that the Landmarks Preservation Commission recognize the importance and unique significance of this historic building. We have so very few buildings left in New York City that show the original character and architecture, and it would be a great shame to loose this historic footprint for future generations. I also stress that the expansion of this building would have a very negative impact for all the next door neighbors. I urge you to vote no on the application.

The light availability was designed into this current block structure, and there should not be a building that blocks out light. health and well-being, as well as original architectural design.

I'm a resident of 306 East 5th street. I'm totally against this new construction! We have enough CONCRETE all around us. We need to protect our neighborhood our East Village community. We need to protect our neighborhood's architectural history. Please put a stop to this. debbie zisimos filarakos

I am one of the original co-investors in 304 E 5th St and 306 E 5th St. Ever since 1983 we have been continuously investing in the buildings, making major improvements to the property at every level: internal renovations of the apartments, external improvements and internal systems improvements. We have been striving to provide excellent value to the residents, and have not altered the external structures, working hard to preserve the spirit and character of the East Village community. The proposed alterations will create great damage to the residents in these buildings, will destroy our neighborhood's architectural history, and will undermine the culture and community of the East Village. Please save the community, the historic value of the structure, and please protect the residents by disallowing the proposed changes to 84 2nd Avenue.

I have witnessed many problems with backyard and rooftop gatherings which are loud and obnoxious into the wee hours of the morning. They take business away from legitimate bar owners who are licensed and responsible so teens and young adults who want to avoid a legitimate business can do whatever they want. It's a problem.

i live 304 E 5th street #1B for 20 years. my windows view will be block by this new construction. i am strongly against this.

I have lived in this building for over 3 years and it has been one of the best apartment experiences ever. My bedroom window overlooked the serene, sunny backyard which is so precious to have in this busy city. By building this extension, this serene experience would be lost for most of the tenants in the building.​ ​I​ ​strongly oppose these plans, besides altering the historical building, construction and excavations could​ ​destabilize this and surrounding buildings.
