The building is one of substantial character and local cultural interest. Please reject these proposed changes, and require that the building retain as much of its integrity as possible.

I live at 304 E 5th St. My bedroom and kitchen overlook this backyard. The proposed extension will compromise the quality of living in the apartments surrounding it.

I live in 304 East 5 Street. My apartment air shaft opens out to the proposed area of construction.
Not only would this construction change the structure of this landmark building, but it would change my living space irreconcilably. I have been living here over 40 years. Now this construction would essentially be putting a restaurant area in my living room.
Sounds and smells travel up the air shaft and magnify.
This would greatly affect my quality of life.
Please consider the neighbors when deciding this case.
Thank you.

As a local resident, I truly value the peace and quiet provided by the courtyard, which will be destroyed by the proposed construction and the commercial premises.
Furthermore, I believe that the integrity of the 175-year-old property should be respected: far too many of them are torn down or permanently altered on a whim. This should not be allowed.
