For years South Africans have been dominated by white supremacy and we are putting a stop to it. Millions of rands leave South Africa every year in royalties paid to foreign countries while nothing comes in. We refuse to be dominated by foreign content on our media. Prioritising foreign content starves our industry, it suffocates our industry. We deserve to hear and see 100 % of South African content, it's our birthright. If South Africans can't play 80 % of their music who will? Will America play 80 % South African music? How will we export our culture? In South African, South African artists must be superior.

The feedback I read daily confirms that many of you feel the same urgency regarding the future of our local creative industries. I am currently reaching out to key stakeholders in the broadcasting sector to ensure our demand for fair representation is formally acknowledged. This process requires patience but the depth of your engagement keeps our objective in clear view.

The persistent growth of this movement reflects a collective desire to center our own culture within our national media. Seeing this level of engagement confirms that many others feel the same urgency to prioritize our local artists and secure the future of our creative industry.

Domestic spending can contribute significantly towards growing the music industry and it can go a long way in cementing South African music in export markets.

SA is the only country that plays more foreign music than its own. This must stop! How can ICASA allow that?

The 80% should represent quality music. There is a huge amount of bad commercial music, so lets encourage the legacy musicians and independent legacy producers to share their work. Remember that electronic loops are not the work of musicians!

The state needs to be fair and loyal to it's own artists, the creators, those that express what's inexplicable and indescribable to a lay man. Give what is due to the local artist i.e airplay and royalties..... let's prove what we've always been bragging when w said local is lekker!!!

As arts practitioners of South Africa, we are tired of being bombarded with foreign artistic crafts that propagate the notion that our arts are inferior. We now lay claim, and take ownership of our industry and call upon OVER 80% of Local Content and nothing less...
