In the latest Executive budget presented to the New York City Council, the Mayor proposed a 5-cent plastic bag "tax" (also called "Consumer Plastic Bag Use Fee") to generate an estimated $84 million.
This petition calls on the City Council to vote NO on this proposal. The residents of New York City are tired of being nickel and dimed by government.
There are ways to save $84 million in this budget and not create new fees and taxes. Join Alex Zablocki, candidate for NYC Public Advocate, in his fight against this new tax.

My wife and I are retired senior citizens, 75 and 80 years old respectively. We live with a fixed income, Social Security does not provide for these additional fees that these idiots in the City Council and the Mayor's Office are constantly adding to the daily expenses we incur. Stop these unnecessary charges, and lets kick these Bums out of office in the next election cycle.

Why not fine those who spit on the ground, and those who litter on the streets? There is such a great number of people spitting on the ground these days, even in subway trains! The City will surely generate a lot of money from fining those people while at the same time, help Keep NYC cleaner, more sanitary.
