Objection to Group Home at 5 Halsey Pl, Valhalla, NY 10595

I strongly oppose the sale of 5 Halsey Place to maintain the safety of the neighborhood. I live at 12 Roberta Court

Mt Pleasant should be looking for ways to move forward and improve, not taking steps backwards.

This is purely a business reason. We will welcome a family with disabled child if the are buying that house - but not for business agency is buying a house for making money. We are not against with disabled persons- against with business in residential area.

Please do not allow this to pass. We have enough problems in our town!

I oppose

I do not believe that people with disabilities should be separated from their families. This is an act of discrimination to separate individuals with disabilities from their families and communities. Spend and invest in programs that will keep families together in their OWN homes and communities. DO NOT move people to a location where there is no ability to get around; no sidewalks, no buses, no access to care. I strongly recommend this town to act responsibly. There is no benefits for a group home. Again, instead of creating havoc come up with new ways to assist families to take care of their family in their own homes/communities.

NO GROUP HOME

I am a resident of Halsey place and I have a two year old son. I was happy with the idea of raising my son in a safe environment and now with the thought of this housing entering into my neighborhood I do not have the same idea in my head. I could understand if this was perhaps on the corner of a dead end street but not in the middle of the houses on the street. We pay taxes to live in a safe environment and now that will be taken from us.

I think Mt. Pleasant has done plenty over the years with these types of facilities. There are many town in Westchester County and I think Mt. Pleasant gets dumped on a bit.... Sincerely, Nicole Ponte

There exists a similar home on 11 Sunset Dr. Right near by. There have been 20 times the police dept. have been called to this home in the past year. This is approx. twice/mo. Only the people on Halsey will be inconvenienced by this, no one else!!

We feel strongly that this neighborhood is not a good place for this group home.

I have nothing against the young adults with disabilities. I wish them well and to be happy. However, I feel Halsey Place is NOT a conducive area for them to thrill in. They should be housed where public transportation is readily available.

Concerned about another home coming off the tax rolls. If this was someone buying this home and they had children with IDD we would welcome them, because it would be a “family “ moving into the neighborhood. This is a much different situation.

Not the appropriate location
