It is deplorable that anyone would wish to destroy this historic home to spin off lots and put up McMansions. The Hobbys were the Forefathers of Greenwich, and were proudly represented leading the Greenwich 350th parade. The home is not a tear down. It is a keepsake. What is wrong with this community? Is greed the wave of the future here replacing our old values of respect, dignity, historic appreciation? I am appalled and saddened. Nothing is sacred anymore. This is a historical home. If you continue to allow people to tear down history the entire draw you the own and area will be demolished with the homes. It is sickening.

I just don't understand why anyone would purchase a beautifully renovated historical home only to tear it down. I hope that the new owners will do the right thing and find another property better suited to their tastes.

My childhood family home, the historic Hill House on Byram Shore Road, was torn down and replaced. At the time it was replaced, the owner was required to build a house in th same style. Now, that house, probably less than 15 years old, has been torn down. Now what? You cannot save them all but this one is worth saving.

Lydia and Ray should be ashamed! Their decision to raze this historical house is not only unethical, but a poor financial decision. Buy a property elsewhere and put 56 Clapboard Ridge back on the market.

There is NO POSSIBLE RATIONALE for the P & Z to allow the destruction of this beautiful historic home. It has been completely renovated to very high standards. It isn't in a state of disrepair. If the P & Z commissioners allow this, we should all ensure that they are NOT reappointed. ANY OF THEM.
