My son is 10 years old and wrestles. I have seen this move attempted by this age group and each time a child is stunned and head and neck are hurt. It needs to stop. It is to dangerous of a move. Concussions are not something to play around with.

The move used against Pierce Mederios was known to be, and is known to be an illegal move and there is precedent to support that. It should not have been allowed and considering that the wrong decision was made, the winner should be Pierce and the other individual should be runner up. That is the only way to right this wrong.

You may not allow illegal moves to win matches or this sport will become MMA, why not just make him submit.

It was an illegal move. In 2014 in a football playoff game refs allowed a hurdle over another player which is illegal in high school football. Which so happened in the same area that this wrestling match was.

I coach basketball & understand how important athlete safety is. It's a travesty that on such a huge stage ( State Championship) that a ref wouldn't know the rules & understand enough about athlete safety to let this happen. Goes beyond wins & losses.

My cousin fractured his neck in a wrestling accident!! He had to be rushed to the hospital for immediate surgery. Terribly scary!! Coaches and referees have an obligation to keep these athletes safe!!!

I agree with everything written in this petition wholeheartedly! I would like to see at a minimum, a split state championship for the two wrestlers or a reversal of the decision and Pierce being crowned the champion due to the illegal move! It proves the point that the Minico wrestler admitted to performing this illegal move and even training for it under the direction of his coaches.

The expected job of a referee is to protect the competitors and the integrity of this proud sport. On this day it served to protect one man's ego who appears to believe his calls are beyond reproach.

The day winning becomes more important than the life of a child is the day you'd better step back and evaluate who you hire as coaches. This is unacceptable and must become a top priority in all sports.

My daughter has started wrestling and I would not want someone who is practicing illegal moves to wrestle her and possibly seriously injured her.
