31st Street Businesses and Citizens Against the 31st Street Protected Bike Lane System

Traffic is really horrible on 31st Street adding the bike lane will cause more traffic and congestion. Astoria has a lot of bike lanes, and not enough parking. LIC-Astoria is rising with new residential highrises bringing more people and more cars. Creating bike lanes cause time restraint and bad traffic. Please leave Astoria the way it is. I'm on with good change, not bad change. Save Astoria parking!!

Er should remove this cancer that infected NY through the DOT and OANA. SHAME ON THESE IDIOTS for destroying our city.

There is too limited space to cater to grossly underused bike lanes. Cities are survive on commerce and cargo, not bike baskets.

Time and time again there’s always a project that’s supposed to be in the community’s best interest, whether it’s more Citi bike kiosks or more bus lanes on streets (21st we’re looking at you), but at the end of the day, this is a consorted effort to suppress the working class who work hard to afford their automobiles and who also work tirelessly to maintain their right to travel. I say this because not only are there bike lanes in what seems like every street in Astoria nowadays, there are also not that many people utilizing these lanes daily. We as a silent majority should have a decision to make sure our roads stay less congested, and safer, given the amount of traffic that flows in and out of 31st everyday. I think there’s definitely a real disconnect from city council members who support this idea in relation to the people that have lived in our community for their entire lives. Say no to them and to the DOT. Enough with this!

Stop taking parking for bikes. Start electric stations for cars. Thank you.

I grew up riding bikes in this city, there were no bike lanes. There was no need, people just used common sense. for every bike there are at least 10 cars if not more. Not to mention bike riding is weather permitted. Bike lanes create more traffic and less parking. Both of which add to pollution

Please don’t put the bike lanes in Astoria. It’s dangerous for people crossing the streets on foot!!

As a resident of Astoria since 2006 and a neighbor to 31st Street, bike lanes would pose a safety risk to riders, pedestrians and cars and shouldn’t go in 31st street. Other through streets would be a much better option.

No way there is no room at all and parking will be impossible, business will have to closed down right away.

I support the idea of a designated bike lane, but 31st st is not the place for it.

The traffic on 31st street is already horrible. Putting in a bike path would not only cause more congestion, but also be very dangerous for bikers on this street.

There are already ample bike lanes in the neighborhood. Installing more is detrimental to everyone who conducts business, shops, and commutes by car on 31 street and all other avenues. Please do not continue to install bike lanes, especially on main thoroughfares.
