As a grand parent of a child in the Neighborhood School I am deeply disturbed by the conditions which I have observed and which are accurately described in this petition. In order to promote and insure the health and safety of the children and staff the reasonable demands outlined in the petition must be met in an expeditious and verifiable manner.

We need the construction to be over. I want my child to have a playground to play on at recess. And one where he's not in danger of picking up a hypodermic needle or stepping in human feces.

I am a longtime resident of East 4th St. as well as a parent, the manager of a local business on Avenue A and 3rd St which caters to the children and families of te neighborhood, many of whom attend school in this building. I am also the Vice President of the East Village Indpenedent Merchants Association. We have been forced into a position to take this eyesore and health hazard for granted as a part of our neighborhood for far too long. Please help to restore the cleanliness and dignity to our neighborhood and help to protect the children of this building from harm.

The end of this project must be completed as soon as possible! It's been way too long. My daughter and her classmates soon to move to middle school not having had a proper playground for years, and ongoing construction.

These conditions are unacceptable. I urge you to take measures and complete the work that should have been completed last year.

Because of the incorrect number of workers assigned to the project, by the construction manager, the environment around this school has eroded. Children are not merely going to school in a construction site but now quality of life issues are creeping in as time has eroded this construction site.

This situation is unacceptable and disgusting and would only occur with people that have no respect for others and are willing to put children's life at risk to make a profit. Really, they should not be allowed to work in this profession.
