FISD has proposed a zoning plan that could institute a new measure that quickly reduces the number of students at Wakeland High School. The ISD is proposing an unprecedented measure of "one time assignment" or "temporary assignment" of the 2018/2019 classes away from their current feeder pattern.
This would cause families to remain fractured with students at two high schools for up to four years. This is unprecedented in the history of FISD where a two year split family situation is the precedent.
Every sub division and neighborhood could be used to temporarily relieve enrollment numbers at ANY high school at ANY time even when the ISD is at full build out. This is NOT what the residents of Frisco signed up for when buying into the small school philosophy.
Help show your support for opposing ANY proposal that alters the feeder path to high school for our children on a "one-time" or "temporary" basis, by signing this petition.

The district has yet to provide a formal response regarding the concerns about temporary zoning assignments. I am currently gathering documents to present during the next board meeting to highlight how these changes disrupt the stability of our families.

Same House! Same School! Most parents do not move or change schools on their children when they are in their high school years as to not disrupt this most critical time in their education, why would we allow FISD to do that to our children!
This zoning proposal is terrible. Both for the Trails kids and the Park Place/Vilage Lakes kids. KEEP THE KIDS IN THEIR FEEDER PATTERN! Keep them with their community and their support system! I love Frisco but hate what they think is ok to do to our kids!
Breaking up families is an apalling precedent for this city to set. This is not the story you want told as two Fortune 500 companies are about to set up HQs on our borders. Think about the people in the community, not the numbers in a spreadsheet.
Tempory fixes do not work and is not fair to split families and communities. Please FISD recall the splitting of the freshman Wakeland class of 2013, 2 periods ar WHS and then bus them to Lonestar for two periods it was a failed attempt of a temp fix.
All Wakeland students deserve the same opportunity to participate in full 4 year Varsity level activities in Sports and fine arts that students in other Frisco schools have. Do not split a portion of these students off to JV programs at Reedy!

Temporary reassignments are anything but temporary for the students affected by this proposal! If this is allowed to happen to The Trails and Meadowcreek, rest assured, the precedent will have been set and then no neighborhood/feeder pattern/household is "safe."
