What Gray was doing was illegal which is the reason Sherriff Janey was there. Never should there be mercy for one who takes the life of an officer!

Jim Grey do NOT come on here spewing your lies and trying to get sympathy b/c IT WON'T HAPPEN!! All the facts are stated from the family are correct!! Robert Grey killed someone! He KILLED SOMEONE!!! Plain and simple sir! HE IS A MURDERER!!! He was a skeezy dirty white trash insurance claiming jerk who deserves to spend every single waking day he has on this earth behind bars! He does not never will deserve to be free!! John isn't free to roam this earth why the hell should the person who took that from him be able to! People need to read the trial transcript rather than a petition based on family lore. The facts are:
John Janey was not on duty but working for a private company while off duty.
John Janey was found to be trespassing by being on the property.
John Janey initiated the incident that resulted in his death by shooting at Robert Gray with no probable cause.
John Janey disobeyed the orders of both his private employer and the Sheriff's Department to OBSERVE ONLY NOT ENGAGE.
John Janey was not shot execution style, this was the contention of the prosecutor designed to inflame the jury. Forensic evidence disproves this contention. The wounds she describes don't exist and were non fatal.
The family of John Janey collected substantial cash benefits from the federal government under the "Public Safety Officers Benefit Act" because the application for benefits misstated the facts of the case. They would not have collected the benefits had the application been truthful. He was working for a private employer at the time, also in violation of the law himself (trespassing) and disobeyed his orders. Other officers have been denied benefits under less compelling (but truthful) circumstances.
Ms. Janey tells a compelling but incomplete story. There was a reason that the jury of Robert Gray's peers decided he should be released one day. Honestly do you think a jury in West Virginia that heard the facts (as presented by Ms. Janey) would give mercy to a cold blooded cop killer? Over 30 people called Robert Gray's lawyer offering testimony as to how they were treated by John Janey. John Janey was stabbed in a bar fight while off duty months before his death and was known for his "rough treatment" either physically or verbally. The judge at the trial was quoted as saying, "I told the sheriff that this Janey was going to cause him problems". The judge also had to order him numerous time to return property to people he had seized it from. The man did not des

Why do you keep telling the same half truths. John Janey was not on duty the night he was killed, he was working for a private employer. He was guilty of trespassing when he initiated the incident that resulted in his death. He disobeyed orders of both his private employer and the Sheriff's Department to NOT ENGAGE BUT OBSERVE ONLY. He shot first when he had no probable cause to even be on the property. He WAS NOT killed execution style. That was a contention of the prosecutor designed to inflame the jury, forensic evidence says otherwise. Honestly, why do you think the jury gave him life with mercy if Bob Gray had done what you say. You need to read the trial transcript and not keep repeating family lore. Bob Gray was offered life with mercy (which I am sure your family agreed to) by the prosecutor if he pled guilty but chose to take it to trial. It is disingenuous for you to now stop a man from getting parole who was found by a jury of his peers to be deserving of it.
