Criminal justice should be about rehabilitation, not punishment. How is it good for society to create an entire class of citizens that can't even provide for themselves?

Alternatives to incarceration and opportunities for jobs and education are essential to boosting our economy, serving all people, keeping families and communities strong, and living to the ideals our country and commonwealth have laid out.

Yes! If people had jobs that supported them, they would not have to resort to selling drugs or breaking-&-entering in order to survive. We also need to create jobs for those with records that prevent them from getting jobs.

The U.S. has a higher incarceration rate than Russia, China, and Iran. We jail more of our racial or ethnic minorities than any other country. How do we explain this to the incarcerated, ourselves, and the world? It's time to create jobs, not jails.

Or you could have a jobs program targeting everyone who is underemployed, that would also be good.

People meed to realize that prison and police are NOT the soplution, they are the PROBLEM. People have been safe for centuries long before police and prisons were around.

Our incarceration rates are shameful. Money would be far better spent on sound education and job creation. Lives and families wouldn't be destroyed.

We need to help people get better, not make them worse!! Jail does nothing to turn a person around and give them the tools to make a better life.

Please also work to reduce barriers to getting housing for those with a criminal record.
