47 States have an Age of Majority of 18 years of age. An Age of Majority set at 19 prevents many Alabama college students from opening bank accounts in their own names. It stops them from exercising rights recognized in almost all other states to 18 year old men and women. It is time to change the Age of Majority in Alabama to 18.

Sign to let the Alabama State Legislature know you support a change to the state Age of Majority.

August 27, 2015

I have been hearing from so many students who are tired of being treated like children when they are already trying to build their own futures. This legal roadblock is holding back capable young people from simple tasks like managing their own money while away at school.

August 27, 2015

Seeing this kind of momentum feels surreal because I remember how isolated I felt when I first realized my own bank account was locked just because of my zip code. Your support proves that Alabama students deserve the same independence as their peers across the country.
