As well as sales to creative pros, this would have a knock-on sales effect for other models in the range.

My brother is a die-hard mac fan, but won't upgrade his old MacBook Pro because he is not willing to give up the 17" screen. Because of the age of the computer, he may have to switch to a PC, a thought that saddens him greatly. I use iPhone and iPad for my mobile devices, but as a professional content creator who works on the road a lot, a 15" screen is not an option because the productivity sacrifice is just unacceptable. I have been using high-performance, high-spec 17" PC laptops and have paid over $5k each for my last 2 machines. I would switch to Mac and be willing to pay a premium if Apple would produce a true professional laptop with a 17" or larger screen. I know of 6 other business associates and friends who would desperately want Apple to provide a 17" option. All being forced to suffer or to use PC. Please Apple, fill the void. If you build it, we will come. PS: For the 17" top-of-the-line high-performance machine, we would rather have power and ports than making the machine that extra 1/8 or 1/4 thinner.

Good point, while IPhones, IPads are bigger, why the Mac Books are getting smaller and with less ports.

I need a 17” or larger notebook. My current machine is a 2011. I’d pay triple for a new one. Apple isn’t making any more money from me until they support pro users (i.e. those of us upon whom Apple was built.)

Loved my older macbook. Now looking for new laptop but first requierment is 17 inch screen. Do lots of spreadsheet work and need to see multiple files at once but no space to set up full desktop computer. So unfortunately stuck going to PC.

I still have my ppc based 17"er as well as a core2 duo one. Back in '12/13 Apple seems to have lost its way - no 17" nor desktop since then.

I have an early 2011 MBP 17 – bought it refurb in late 2011. Within a year upgraded RAM to 16. Used it here and there as a personal device for several years relying primarily on my 15.4 inch company Dell for work/travel/etc (hey, it had a 10-key which came in handy). My company upgraded me to an ultra, lovely 11 inch, pretty nice portable. But 11 inches on the road is a killer on the eyes. So, I ripped open my MBP, swapped the SATA for an SSD and it is now my primary device when traveling. Comparing cost to usability and features, I gotta say, I like my old 17 inch MBP far more than anything Apple has to offer in their current MBP lineup. A touchbar? Puhleaze -Gimmick and useless for my line of work. I need a solid 17 inches. 1.5 inches makes a huge difference for those of us on the road. Since 2011 through present I have forked out $2200 in total for device, warranty, RAM and SSD. Why would I pay $3800 for a 15 inch MBP???? And, besides, the latest and “greatest” in the MBP line doesn’t even have the iconic glowing apple medalion on the lid. C’mon guys – If you build it, we will come. Until then – Spending $3800 on a disposable laptop is RIDICULOUS!!!!!!!!!!! With my 2011 I can upgrade, customize, do anything. No screen issues – Am I just lucky? Hey, knock on wood. Is there a noticeable difference between a Hi-Res 17inch and a Retina 15inch? NOPE! Not worth losing 1.5 inches of display or the ability to swap out hard drive, ram or whatever I want.

I'm a developer and used to own a 17 in MBP. Would love to see it back with the latest advances. Would be willing to pay premium.
