Since the Freebutt Live Music Venue was taken on by new owners (same people who own Joiners in Southampton!) they raised the entry age to 16+ instead of getting the insurance for 14+ entries (while entry in Southampton is 14+) Lowering the age requirement may cost slightly more on the insurance policy, but that money will be quickly recovered as a lot of younger fans of musicians will be able to get into the Freebutt. By lowering the age requirements, bands would also prefer to play there instead of not playing Brighton at all, as they would know that more people would be able to get in to see them perform.
