People were tragically and needlessly killed by those murders. No medals should have been awarded to those murders.

It's impossible to look back through the lens of history and see what happened at Wounded Knee as anything other than a massacre. There were several misunderstandings and the situation--created by the calvary--was indeed tense. But that does not excuse what happened. It was a crime. Additionally to award the medal of honour for murdering elders, women and children debases the meaning of the honour bestowed on other Americans in battle.

I have read all about this years ago and the funny thing not really funny just a miss use of words is that our teachers back in school never taught the TRUTH. We were taught that Indians were evil and that is a LIE. We were taught Andrew Jackson was a great man that is a LIE he was a EVIL man. The American Indian should be given every thing for free. Our White ancestors did them Wrong killed them took their LAND from them and I blame the so called GOVERNMENT for this. VERY sad that this had to happen.

This makes me sick at my stomach that an army leader could allow this and not have maintained control over their men who were acting like the savages they thought they were killing without mercy!

Remove the medals from the people who slaughtered so many people, just for land. This was an "American Holocaust."

There was no honor involved in butchering innocent men, women and children. These medals should never have been awarded in the first place :(

Reconcilliation is needed. For reconcilliation to occur the US government MUST acknowledge this happened and the Medals of (dis)Honor be withdrawn.

Just another way to get away with Clod Blooded Murder, cause they could. The government nor any soilder should get an award for Cold Blooded Murder.Custer got what was coming to him. What you as our government did was Murder 290 Unarmored and were Old Men Old women and young children. Those that did not die in the Great Battle were walked around and shot in the head. Very Brave U.S. Calvary !!
