We cannot point our fingers at atrocities committed in other countries, as long as we do not face the atrocities committed by our own forefathers.

ALL codetalkers should receive the CMH, But then we weren't classified as humans, much less citizens until after the wars were over.

We treated the Native Americans shamefully and continue to do so today. We need to start correcting our past transgressions against them.

This was a great DISGRACE and the Blood on american hands will Never WASH or RUN!
The medals for this dishonor should be removed as a show of some sign of RESPECT that is DESERVED for our sins.

So sad that the government would allow something like this massacre to happen in the first place but then the killers were given medals. For what? Defending themselves against un-armed women, children and the elderly. It's high time these murders are recognized for what they really are and the medals taken and blame put where it should be. The government needs to stand accountable for the way it has treated the American Indians.

This would be the beginning of sending the true message that these medals of honor were anything but honorable!..

I visited the Wounded Knee site and crossed the reservation by bicycle in 1995. I support this token of atonement for this injustice to the Sioux and removal of a stain on the MOH.

This is something that should NEVER be forgotten but taught in all schools as it truly was, not the way the government would like us to remember it. This was a disgrace. After reading Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee many years ago I was ashamed to be known as 'white'!
First Wounded Knee should never happened, it is the biggest blemish in American History and as if that wasn't enough add injury and insult by giving those murderers medals...RESCIND THOSE MEDALS!!!!

dishonorable activity; dishonorably noted and white-washed history; typical white-male move.
i'm so disgusted with my ancestors behavior I could puke.
just give the natives back their land and their dead and their possessions and all the money you owe them! make the proper retributions...and learn how to be a real human being from them! if my ancestors had just paid attention to how the human beings interacted with this land, we might be in a better place right now. we've lost so much in becoming civilized.

It is long overdue that we make this right. There was no honor in massacring these men , women, & children. Murdering them...
