I'm pretty well aware of the fact that all white people have been misbehaving on all continents, including the Dutch and I feel ashamed that i am a white man. But in my heart I 'm an Indian. I feel a very strong love for these people!

The only thing that deserves honouring in acts of genocide like this is the memory of the victims and the resilience of survivors and descendants. It is past time to close the chapter on genocides on Turtle Island and start work to amend their legacies and finally end ongoing imperialist policies of assimilation and violence. Removing these medals is a small step, but a powerful symbol.
