This is an historical disgrace and the soldiers acted dishonorably. There is no remedy other than to remove the "honor" that was bestowed on the the perpetrators of these dishonorable acts.

We have the same inexcusable stains on our history in Australia even if there were no medals for them. It's time the 'victors' owned up and accepted responsibility and started a serious (as opposed to the current lip service) process of redress - whichever country you're in. Rescinding these awards would be a step in the right direction.
