Removal of 10+ year ban on Used Vehicles in The commonwealth of The Bahamas

It is an injustice to "The Bahamian People" that you guy impose such a ridiculous ban on the importation of vehicles older than 10 years in a failing economy where the duty rates of importing vehicles are exceedingly high in a nation that "MANUFACTURES NOT" a "SINGLE VEHICLE" therefore I see not only this childish decision to ban cars of age as an insult but also the high import fees of item we are "FORCED" to import. We are not like the USA,EUROPE,OR ASIA that manufactures vehicles so they have high taxes so that their local vehicles can sell whereas we has none to sell.

The small man have suffered for too long because the BIG business man needed to profit keeping the small man in debt all their lives to the business man. Making everyone independent is the way we as bahamians should be.

There should be a bann against damage/ cars with unclean titles.

make sense for them because the older the car the less it will cost to import. But the higher cost of new cars is a far bigger profit for those who make a profit when Bahamians import vehicles.

This law is wrong.

What other kind of cars will the youths or furthermore the average middle-class be able to afford? This government is making it harder and harder for us to survive in our own country. All cars are man-made and will have some type of effect on the environment.

I think this would take opportunities from many Bahamians who may be relying on this.

the government today reminds me of lazarus and the rich man no mercy do care if you cant afford to purchase a vehicle and dont want you to import any cuz they straight look what they driving probably made a deal with the autocompanies here who say they car aint selling.

Vehicles that come from away are in excellent condition, what environmental issues they talking about, not pollution eh...check out the existing vehicles in the Bahamas now, especially some of those buses on the street. Not everyone can afford to buy a new vehicle or secondhand vehicle here, the prices are outrageous. I just purchased a 2015 yaris for $31,000.00,that was affordable but still a bit out of my budget, thank God I don't have any other bills. Vehicles are too expensive in this country. Think about the lower income people who NEED a car man!

It will also affect very badly the local shippers bringing in cars.

If they want us to stop buying the 90's used cars or the reliable older cars then give us exemptions on the newer cars. For instance I would buy a NEW fuel efficient car or truck/SUV from a local dealer if I could get it minus the custom duties, VAT fee and any stamp tax. I am sure there are many who would join me. This would help reduce our oil import bill and help out local car dealers. This would also assist in removing the "older" cars from the road. It would stimulate the local economy, for instance new car owners tend to lavish more attention on their vehicle. So any service such as insurance, car washes/washers and car care products. So if you want to reduce or eliminate the older cars then give us a one year tax free holiday on the locally sold fuel efficient vehicles
