1080 does not belong on our land or in our rivers, our animals and birds do not deserve to be poisoned to death so cruelly and our water supplies to become toxic for our children to drink. 1080 needs to be completely banned. Hunt and trap is your solution.

I support ngahere health and bringing back the locally extinct species. There have been 8 well advertised hui on marae around the Russell State Forest to discuss this 20 year health plan for the ngahere. All the hui supported using all the tools in the toolkit to bring back the health of the ngahere. Trapping programmes, monitoring, wananga on matauranga maori, whakapapa through the ngahere are all being funded as well. Before signing thjs petition please take the time to talk with locals who have taken the time to attend hui, visit other 1080 operations, organised scientists to present on our marae and participated in hours of research on this topic over the last 2 years. We have learnt of the acheivable way to return the flocks of kukupa, kiwi, kakariki, kokako and other missing life to our ngahere. This proposed 1080 drop is just the first part of that long term health plan for not only the Russell State Forest, but all the ngahere from Huruiki to Rakaumangamanga. Our ngahere will be neglected no more. Mauri ora.

No excuse good enough for animal cruelty, let alone bad excuses. It takes up to 96 hours for animals to die from these poisons, stop the #inhumane #ecocide .

There is another way-you just have to look for it. Going back to trapping is not the answer as someone said as it is equally cruel. Animals are not objects but living and feeling beings.
