We need a development of this caliber in that part of town it's more then the proper spot! It we are so worried about views of and from
Citadel then it's in behind the hill we should start buliding up taller and thinner bulidings

I don't understand what the issue is with the community or HRM , the area needs a face lift as it's old and retired , I lived in the area over 30 years ago and it still looks the same with little changes , to improve the business in the area and beautication you need to allow developers to proceed with their investments to keep Halifax vibrant.
As far as shawdows the sun comes up the sun goes down , it's called dawn and dusk, as far as shawdows who do people complain to when it's cloudy and foggy (Mother Nature )
Nova Centre was allowed to be built and blocking citadel hill view and HRM Council approved that build .

The proposed slim 29-story building is beautiful and will add to the city just as the new library and the Nova Centre does. The city should require top-notch building materials and appealing designs of developers and not involve itself with height.

Investment like this drives our city forward in a positive way by creating jobs, growth, diversity, and long term sustainability for our HRM!
We need more big investment like this throughout Atlantic Canada because if we don't encourage growth & investment it will be attracted to other city's / municipalities and we'll loose out. Cut the red tape and let's move forward!!

Its time for the city to step out of the 18th century and develop the downtown into something that will be useful in the future. Although I agree that there are significant historical properties on the peninsula, the continuous complaint of "The views from Citadel hill will be impeded..." is not a valid argument towards modernizing the city.

At 44 degrees north latitude Halifax is one of Canada's most southerly cities. If shadows caused by buildings are a problem here then how do citizens of other Canadian cities manage to survive? What's Vancouver, 800 to a 1000 km north of Halifax?...with a lower sun angle. Where is the evidence of dire consequences of shadow from buildings? I stand ready and willing to be educated.
