Willow Tree Tower, Halifax

I support this project. Why on earth would one be opposed to this?!

Yes it's time to renew that old part of the city. The building will not look out of place.

Halifax cannot become a stunted city. We cannot allow our city to become an open museum. If we stagnant our city's development we stagnant our city's economy and we cannot afford that nowadays.

Onward and Upward!

I work down the road from the proposed project and have enjoyed the commons tremendously over the years. I feel a large development like this does not ruin either the area or the commons in any way. I support putting this city on the map by allowing it to grow into a modernized community. We have plenty of heritage properties and have kept our traditional Halifax feel. But let's not use that as an excuse to hinder progress.

Don't let the minority decide for the majority.

Halifax has long needed a corridor of modern high density buildings. This area is prime for redevelopment and this proposal is beautiful and practical. The Commons is a wonderful area that we should not alter, but building up around the perimeter should be a priority.

I support this development

Completely in favour of going up versus being limited to 20. If hindsight is any indication, in 20 years people will look at 20 stories and think about what person only approves that many stories!! It should have been 30 or 40 because at the moment we have ran out of space to develop and the only place to go is up. Learn from the other cities and go up!!

I am supportive of APL Properties' proposal for the Willow Tree Tower.

Let this city grow!

Private development fuels our economy. Lets not be shortsighted on the vision and growth potential of our city. They are not making any more land, therefore to support increased density we must allow buildings to go up.

Halifax needs to keep growing, and with limited space, up is definitely the way to go.

I fail to understand how changing a relatively slim 29-storey building to a wider 20-storey building is seen as an improvement. Halifax is full of squat buildings that were originally proposed as taller and thinner, which were then sawed off by calls to make them shorter. None of them were improved in this process. If there is any place in the city for a 29-storey building it is this site. Using the Centre Plan's proposed height limit is silly, as it is has not yet been accepted and hopefully will be amended. It's time for Halifax to grow up.

There are many great cities in this world with buildings much higher than 29 stories, it's an absolutely ridiculous notion that a 29 story building will some how harm the city. I think its time for Halifax to reach a little higher!

I support Higher density living on the peninsula.

Space is limited on the Peninsula and they aren't making more land.....
