We are asking Mendota, IL 61342 to establish Veronica Blumhorst Day on September 20 each year, as a locally recorded day of remembrance for Veronica Blumhorst, a local civilian who has been missing since September 20/21, 1990.
For nearly 36 years, our community has carried the absence of Veronica Blumhorst and the pain that comes with not knowing what happened to her. Veronica was born on 09/04/1969, and her name has remained part of the story of Mendota ever since she went missing. A day of remembrance would give our town a way to honor her, keep her memory alive, and stand with everyone who has continued to search, wait, and hope.
This is about more than a date on a calendar. It is about saying that Veronica matters, that her life mattered, and that our community does not forget its own. A local day of remembrance can bring people together in quiet respect, encourage reflection, and remind future generations that missing persons are not forgotten by the places they called home.
We ask that September 20 be recognized each year as Veronica Blumhorst Day in Mendota, IL 61342, so our community can remember Veronica Blumhorst with dignity, compassion, and enduring care.
Shes been gone too long...we will never forget but this would be a great triubute to her and her family
