We faced several incidents with a child in her classroom. She provided unwavering support to the child, demonstrating her commitment to helping our little one thrive. Through these challenges, she has shown remarkable dedication and resilience in nurturing our child's growth.

What a tremendous loss for our community. Dr. Chatmon brought such genuine love and care for and interest in our children. The wisdom and rigor she brought to her position was such a gift. She will be deeply missed by our family.

Dr. Chatmon was instantly warm and welcoming to our family and has been incredibly helpful ever since. She is one of our son's favorite adults on campus and he has gone to her often for help. We would all be so sad to see her go.

I echo the same sentiments expressed about how valuable Dr. Chatmon's role is at the school and what a blessing she is as a person. Dr. Chatmon was instrumental in helping our daughter through some very tough times. Without her don't know whether our daughter would still be at the Lab School. By letting Dr. Chatmon go the UCLA School of Education & Information Studies is eliminating an important part of what sets UCLA Lab School and UCLA, as a whole, apart as a beacon of educational innovation.

Dr. Chatmon is an interval part of the UCLA Lab School special curriculum. Not just her role, but her personally. This is extremely disappointing. And will be very disappointing to our students as well. She goes out of her way to host lunches for our students of color, giving them tools to navigate. This decision is a painful one and hurts our school’s unique value proposition

The sincere presence, wisdom, experience, warmth, care and knowledge that Dr. Chatmon brought to the Lab School was felt and noticed on a daily basis by our family. Her ideas and contributions, her efforts, her tactful and loving truth-telling in her administrative role, are all attributes that made us feel seen and safe, supported and encouraged, and most of all proud to be a Lab School family. As our son said, "Dr. Chatmon supports me and has my back."

Dr. Chatmon has been an essential part of our Lab School experience and such a warm, kind, loving, and deeply caring presence on campus every day. We can’t imagine Lab without her and the critically important programs she leads with the attention and commitment they require.

SEL is critically important in elementary school. Academics alone will not turn students into excellent citizens, teammates and leaders. Lab School should be pressing their advantage in SEL (communicating program effectiveness and exporting to other schools), not dialing back their commitment.

Dr. Chatmon was a main contributor in helping our neurodivergent son acclimate to Lab School. She is student-facing everyday and plays a vital role in how our children communicate, resolve conflict, and regulate their emotions!
