This petition is a collective expression of support for Ms. Asmaa Nadeem Qureshi. We
understand that there is a possibility that she may not be able to remain permanently in
Canada and may be required to leave. We wish to convey to Immigration, Refugees and
Citizenship Canada that such an outcome would have a profound impact not only on Asmaa
herself, but also on her family, friends, and the community of which she has become a part.
We are particularly concerned about the emotional hardship and disruption this would
cause to her young son, whose well-being, stability, and future are closely connected to his
mother's presence and care. Having made sincere efforts to establish herself and build a
meaningful future in Canada, Asmaa now faces the possibility of losing the stability,
relationships, and sense of belonging she has worked so hard to develop. We respectfully
believe that these circumstances, especially the potential impact on her young son, deserve
careful and compassionate consideration.
Asmaa has made Saint-Laurent, Quebec, her home and has worked diligently to establish a
stable and independent life. During her time in Canada, she has gained valuable
employment experience, developed professional skills, and become familiar with the
responsibilities and expectations of the Canadian workplace. Her employment has provided
her with an opportunity to support herself and her young son while contributing to the
community through meaningful work. These efforts reflect her determination to become
financially independent and create a secure foundation for her family's future.
Beyond her employment, Asmaa has developed personal relationships and connections that
have strengthened her sense of belonging in Canada. Through her everyday interactions,
responsibilities, and experiences, she has gradually built a life that reflects her
commitment to making Canada her permanent home. The familiarity of her surroundings,
the relationships she has formed, and the independence she has achieved are important
aspects of her establishment. We believe that the progress she has made deserves
recognition, particularly given the responsibilities she carries as the mother of a young
child.
We are especially concerned about the impact that Asmaa's departure could have on her
two-year-old son, who was born in Canada. At this early stage of his life, he depends on his
mother for his daily needs, emotional comfort, and healthy development. Canada is the only
country he has known since birth, and his early childhood has been shaped by the
environment in which his mother is raising him. A forced change in these circumstances
could introduce considerable uncertainty during an important period of his growth, when
consistent care, familiar surroundings, and a secure home environment are particularly
valuable.
Asmaa's wish to remain in Canada is therefore closely connected to her responsibilities and
aspirations as a mother. She hopes to provide her son with a stable upbringing, access to
education and opportunities as he grows older, and the security of growing up in the
country of his birth. If she were required to leave, she could face the difficult prospect of
rebuilding her life in another country while continuing to care for a child who is still
entirely dependent on her. We believe that the best interests of her Canadian-born son
should be given particular attention, as the consequences of his mother's immigration
circumstances would inevitably extend to his own childhood and future. We also recognize the significant practical challenges Asmaa could encounter if she were
required to leave Canada. Having invested time and effort in developing her experience and
establishing an independent household, she could find herself having to begin again under
considerably different circumstances. Finding suitable employment, securing
accommodation, meeting everyday expenses, and developing a new support network would
require substantial time and resources. These challenges could be particularly demanding
for a mother responsible for the care and upbringing of a two-year-old child.
The consequences of leaving would extend beyond these practical difficulties. Asmaa would
also face the emotional burden of leaving behind the people, surroundings, and routines
that have become part of her everyday life. Friends and community connections can provide
important encouragement, reassurance, and practical assistance, especially when raising a
young child. The possibility of losing access to these familiar sources of support would add
another layer of difficulty to an already uncertain situation.
We believe that Asmaa's circumstances should be viewed in light of the efforts she has
made and the responsibilities she continues to fulfil. She has sought to establish herself
through employment, develop financial independence, and create a meaningful life in
Canada. At the same time, she is raising a young son whose needs require her constant
attention, patience, and care. Balancing these responsibilities while facing uncertainty
about her immigration future is not an easy undertaking. Her determination to continue
working toward a better future for herself and her child is something we believe deserves
understanding and respect.
As members of the community, we recognize that immigration decisions involve important
considerations. However, we also believe that the personal circumstances of those affected
should be examined with compassion. In Asmaa's case, the consequences of having to leave
Canada would reach beyond the interruption of her employment or the loss of familiar
surroundings. They would affect a mother who has worked to establish herself and a
Canadian-born child whose early years and future opportunities are closely connected to
the stability she is striving to provide.
We respectfully ask Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada to consider Asmaa's
circumstances as a whole, including her employment experience, her efforts toward
financial independence, her community connections, and the difficulties she could face if
required to rebuild her life elsewhere. Above all, we ask that particular consideration be
given to the best interests of her young son and the importance of preserving a secure and
supportive environment during his formative years.
We respectfully support Ms. Asmaa Nadeem Qureshi in her request to make Canada her
permanent home. Allowing her to remain would provide her with the opportunity to
continue building upon the foundation she has established, pursue her personal and
professional goals, and fulfil her responsibilities as a mother with greater stability and
confidence. We believe that she deserves the opportunity to continue contributing to
Canadian society while raising her son in the country where he was born.
Every person who signs below joins in this request and respectfully asks that Ms. Asmaa
Nadeem Qureshi be given the opportunity to remain in Canada permanently.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
