I'm a small business owner in Stafford County and this would take far too much out of my pocket.

Need fair and competitive business environment. Small businesses generate the most local jobs. Keep prices from going up further in this economy.

Another tax on businesses is not gonna solve Staffords problems… Stafford has a spending problem and we don’t effectively audit the existing businesses many of which do not even pay taxes because they are operating their businesses without licenses or they’re operating their businesses without paying taxes… Just go on Facebook or Nextdoor app or any social media platform and watch the different businesses that ultimately spring up on there and you’ll find literally millions of dollars in revenue

Stafford County residents already pay more in taxes than surrounding counties. We need to establish checks and balances for our so-called leadership.

Stop with the taxes!!! We can’t get or keep good restaurants. I have lived in Stafford my whole life and people keep leaving because they can’t afford to be here. Can we please stop having policies and creating taxes that hurt the very residence the board of supervisors are supposed to be representing!!! Cut the waste and stop increasing taxes!!!

Consumers and residents will both pay higher out of pocket costs !!!! Businesses will lose customers too, they can go to neighboring counties and pay lower prices for goods and services.

The BOS is desperately trying to find revenue and apparently justifies adding this tax on businesses by saying it will have no trickle down effect. 🤦‍♀️ who are they kidding? Unfortunately Chairman Diggs has already posted on FB that he changed an angry citizen’s mind about the tax. So it is disingenuous holding a town hall when his mind is clearly made up. Now he wants the citizens to come up with solutions to fill the gap caused by Richmond’s unfunded mandates.

One reason that Stafford county is doing so well in attracting businesses is that we don't have a business tax, while all the localities around us do. New businesses means jobs, income, people and shopping of all kinds. Keep it the way it is!

This needs to be analyzed before implementing. We don’t need additional taxes

Stafford already gets 1% of every item a merchant sells. This is from the sales tax. State sales tax is 5.3% and 1 % o that goes to Stafford county. And they are talking about raising the state sales tax to 6.3% . Double dipping and over taxed. Say no to the BPOL tax.

Will detour businesses for coming to Stafford. It's a hidden tax the citizens of Stafford will ultimate pay.

I believe this tax increase could have a detrimental effect on our community and ultimately reduce revenue for the county. I have already heard from several business owners who are considering relocating outside Stafford County if this increase is approved. That would leave more commercial buildings vacant while jobs, customers, and tax revenue move elsewhere. Local businesses are the backbone of our community. They employ our residents, support local organizations, pay property taxes, and help

It is hard enough to run a small business. We sure do not need a tax on gross revenue. How is that fair? A tax like that would not make it feasible for me to run my business. We already pay State and Federal income taxes.

We don't need higher taxes. Let the data centers pay for it.
