I moved one business to Stafford Co. (Harkcon) from Fairfax Co. and started another (6 Bears & a Goat Brewing Co.) largely because there was no BPOL tax. Stafford Co. used to market the absence of a BPOL tax to attract businesses. Does anyone on the Board even remember that!

I've paid taxes in Stafford since 1978. Taxes have risen to the point where my long term home and local area are no longer affordable to live in. I also have a small business that was hit hard by covid. This is not the time to raise taxes. We should be getting tax cuts and grants to stay alive right now. It takes working multiple jobs and 12 hr days to make ends meet as it is....

A premise of the approval of data centers was to alleviate the tax burden of the residents. Still not enough tax dollars to efficiently run the county?!?

The BPOL tax will place a heavy burden on businesses. This will cause businesses to close, which will lead to job loss for some residents. The BPOL will also cause prices to increase for Stafford County residents. Finances for a lot of people are already stressed. Why would our local government want to increase that stress?

This potential tax increase will hurt the people who live in Stafford County. We're already being taxed to the hilt. People get pay raises only to have it taken away with tax increases. Mortgage payments goes up, people's livehood decreases because having to pay more. If you keep going up on taxes not only will businesses leave, but people will move out of this county. The decision to raise taxes should be put to vote by the people who will be impacted by it. Not you.

Cause obviously we don’t need any more tax hikes, but I’m gonna tell you right now they’re still gonna vote in favor of it. That is what the BOS does every one of them. Only three of them on the board care about the citizens.
